What is Act One?
A practical introduction to the rehearsal room.
Young performers learn stage vocabulary and technique through character work, audition preparation, improvisation, and ensemble exercises.
The class is designed around doing: participants practice theatre skills together in a supportive group setting instead of sitting through a formal syllabus.
What Participants Will Practice
The building blocks of being onstage.
Stage vocabulary & technique
Learn the language and basic techniques used to work confidently in a rehearsal room.
Improvisation
Respond in the moment, make creative choices, and practice working without a script.
Character work
Practice making clear character choices through guided performance exercises.
Ensemble exercises
Listen, respond, and create alongside other young performers.
Audition preparation
Build familiarity with the skills and expectations involved in auditioning.
