Overshadowed Theatrical Productions is a Christian, faith-based nonprofit theatre in Medinah, Illinois. It serves Chicago’s western suburbs with live plays, musicals, theatre education, camps, and community programs.

Yes. Overshadowed’s mission is to deliver quality, family-friendly drama at an affordable price that entertains, inspires, and promotes a Biblical message that points the way to Christ.

The name reflects founder Reba Hervas’ conviction that Christ should overshadow every part of life and the theatre’s work. Psalm 91:1 and the hymn “Overshadowed” helped shape that vision before the company was founded in 2004.

Ticket & Performances
Buying tickets, changing plans, and getting Box Office help.

Purchase available performance tickets through Overshadowed’s TicketPeak page. Production pages also link to the correct ticket destination when sales are open.

Ticket purchases are non-refundable. Tickets may be transferred to another performance of the same production, and a ticket transfer fee applies. Contact the Box Office for help with a transfer.

Some wheelchair-accessible seats are identified when you choose seats in TicketPeak. If you would like help selecting an accessible location, call or email the Box Office before your performance.

Overshadowed offers season tickets. Availability, included productions, and current purchase instructions are posted with the current season information.

Visiting the Theatre

Yes. Overshadowed offers free on-site parking at it's Medinah location, including wheelchair-accessible parking near the accessible side entrance.

The building and lobby typically open 45-60 minutes before the event, and theatre seating usually begins about 30 minutes before curtain. Check your event details for anything production-specific.

Overshadowed’s Medinah theatre location has wheelchair-accessible parking, an accessible entrance, an accessible restroom, and some wheelchair-accessible seating. Accessible seats are identified in TicketPeak, and the Box Office can help you choose a location.

No. The elevator does not reach the Balcony Level. Rows F-O require approximately one to four steps, so contact the Box Office if you need help selecting seating without steps.

Yes. Assisted-listening devices and Auracast broadcast audio are available at our theatre. Visit the Box Office on your performance date for help with listening support.

Yes. Overshadowed has a concessions area at the theatre. Availability at another venue may differ, so check the event page when a performance or program is held off-site.

Overshadowed tries to keep performances on schedule and cancels only when severe conditions require it. Unless a cancellation or schedule change is announced, patrons should expect the performance to proceed.

Audition procedures vary by production. Follow the current casting notice, which will explain whether an appointment or a selected time is required and provide the correct registration action.

Prepare only what the current production notice requests. Do not assume you need a song, monologue, headshot, résumé, or printed material unless that audition listing asks for it.

No. Overshadowed welcomes volunteers who have never worked in theatre. Choose an area that matches your interests, experience, or practical skills; all volunteers are asked to read and agree with Overshadowed’s mission.

Yes. Guest Services volunteers—including ushers, ticketing, and concessions—follow a current dress code so patrons receive a polished and welcoming first impression.

Internships
Hands-on theatre experience, practical details, and the current application process.

Overshadowed lists year-round opportunities in artistic administration, costume design, light and sound, scenic carpentry, and stage and properties management. Typical terms are summer, fall, and winter/spring, with some flexibility around school schedules.

Most stipends are available for all internships, with a current maximum total stipend of $1,000. A stipend may be reduced for part-time, shorter or incomplete internships; eligibility requirements also apply.

An internship may qualify for college credit when arranged with your college or university. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation, though Overshadowed can provide contact information for potential host families.

Overshadowed rents stock and specialty costumes, props, and selected set pieces gathered through years of productions. Availability changes, so use past production photos for examples and send an inquiry for the items and dates you need.
