director’s note
Some stories entertain. Some stories challenge. Some stories ask what a life is worth.
Overshadowed Theatrical Productions is seeking actors for the world premiere of Flame of Fire, an original drama inspired by the true story of five young missionary families whose lives became forever intertwined in the jungles of Ecuador.
Set between 1945 and 1956, Flame of Fire follows Nate Saint, Jim Elliot, Pete Fleming, Ed McCully, Roger Youderian, and the remarkable women who stood beside them. Through friendship, courtship, sacrifice, faith, heartbreak, and hope, this story explores what ordinary people do when confronted with an extraordinary calling.
This is an ensemble-driven production featuring rich character work, meaningful relationships, historical storytelling, and moments of profound emotional depth.
Many roles are available to both men and women, with ages ranging from late teens to mature adulthood. No previous experience is required. Newcomers are welcome and encouraged to audition.
At its heart, Flame of Fire is not a story about loss. It is a story about courage, conviction, and lives lived with purpose.
Our production features a striking visual design including projected staging, a unifying physical set, and powerful theatrical imagery built around recurring objects and sound. This production asks its cast to trust silence, stillness, and simplicity as much as dialogue.
We hope you will consider being part of bringing this remarkable story to life from the script, which will be provided at auditions for cold readings. No need to memorize sides in advance. We welcome actors of all backgrounds and experience levels. Come ready to tell a story worth telling.

We are seeking actors who:
Enjoy character-driven storytelling
Are comfortable working with historical material
Can portray sincerity and emotional truth
Value collaboration and ensemble work
Are willing to help tell a story larger than themselves
This is an ensemble piece built on real relationships, real faith, and real cost. We are looking for actors who can bring warmth, humor, and emotional honesty to characters based on real people — and who understand that the most powerful moments in this play often live in restraint rather than performance.
